Newly Appointed High Court Judges Sworn into Office

The 20 High Court Judges who were appointed by President William Ruto following the recommendation of the Judicial Service Commission-JSC Sworn into Office.

The Judges significantly took the Oath on Wednesday, December 7 at a function Presided over by President William Ruto at State House in Nairobi County.

At the State House function, Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu who represented Chief Justice Martha Koome among other senior government and judiciary officers was present.

Speaking at the function after witnessing the Twenty Judges taking the Oath of office, the Head of State called on the Judges to always be Impartial and Endeavor to live to their Oath of Office.

“As you make decisions on judgments, and as you consider every issue brought before you, and some of them will be very difficult, remember you swore before the Almighty God to Serve Kenyan People Diligently,” Ruto told the newly appointed Judges.

The President equally called upon the Judges to not only Administer but also defend the Constitution clarifying that it is the Basis upon which the Country is Established.

“On the other hand, we want the Judiciary dignified, respected, and we want the Judiciary that Promotes Fairness,” Ruto said in a statement.

The Judicial Service Commission submitted the names of the Twenty Judges to the President of the Republic of Kenya on December 1 after Discursive Consideration of their Performance upon the Conclusion of their Interviews on December 1, 2022.

The Judges’ recommendation was also based on the Constitutional Imperative of Merit, Gender, Regional Balance, and Affirmative action.

The newly appointed High Court Judges include Gichohi Patricia Njeri, Mongare Josephine Wayua Wambua, Nyaundi Patricia Mande, SC, Kavedza Diana Rachel, Chirchir Sophie Chebet, Sifuna Nixon Wanyama (Prof.), Shariff Mwanaisha Saida, Nyaga Heston Mbogo, Chigiti John Mugwimi, Mulwa Peter Mutua, Nthiga Lawrence Mugambi, Mutai Gregory, Wananda John Robert Anuro, Mohochi Samwel Mukira, Olel Francis Rayola Ochieng Odhiambo, Githiru Freda Mugambi (Dr.), Magare Dennis Kizito Ng’wono, Macharia Florence Wangari, Odera Teresa Achieng and Visram Aleem Alnashir.
