Florida: On Thursday, November 10, 2022, Hurricane Nicole hits Florida with a warning measurement of 70mph (110kph) winds causing heavy rains.
The National Hurricane Center-NHC upgraded Nicole on Wednesday evening from a tropical storm, then downgraded it again an hour after it made landfall.
The Storm comes just weeks after Hurricane Ian hit Florida, leaving at least one hundred (100) people dead and others displaced due to floods.
Showcasing a warning signal, the storm is in place for the mid-section of Florida’s East coast which includes former US president Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in West Palm Beach, with the NHC warning of strong winds.
Notably, Forty-five (45) of the state’s sixty-seven (67) counties are under a state of emergency and four (4) counties are under mandatory evacuation orders.
At least one hundred thousand (100,000) customers have been left without power after the occurrence of the storm.
On the other hand, Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort were closed early on Wednesday, and also Orlando International Airport grounded commercial operations.
In addition, the arrival of Nicole is also expected to further disrupt a long-delayed Nasa rocket launch, which aims to bring Americans one step closer to returning to the Moon.

Figuring out, the Artemis 1 mission had already been pushed back to November 19, 2022, but there are fears that flying debris caused by the storm could damage the exposed rocket.
Finally, Nicole’s late arrival follows a relatively quiet storm season – for the first time since 1997 not a single hurricane or tropical storm formed in the Atlantic basin this August 2022.
