Poland Missile Blast: Russia Accuses Ukraine of the Incident

Poland: Russia on Wednesday accused Ukraine of the missile attack in Eastern Poland, with Belgium saying that it was probably caused by Ukraine’s air defences firing at Russia’s incoming missiles.

The Police forces launched an investigation over the attack on November 16, 2022, in the Eastern Poland village of Przewodow near the border with Ukraine.

Ambassadors from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization-NATO called an emergency meeting in Brussels after Poland’s military made an alarming signal after the missile blast and summoned Russia’s ambassador over the incident.

The missile blast in a farm building on Tuesday killed two (2) people at 1440 GMT, leaving the village of Przewodow in shocking momentum and sparking international concern over a possible further escalation of the war crisis.

“Based on the preliminary information available, the strikes are most likely a result of Ukrainian anti-aircraft systems that were engaged to take Russian missiles out of the sky,” Belgian Defence Minister Ludivine Dedonder said.

“Photographs of the wreckage were unequivocally spotted by the Russian military experts as fragments of a guided anti-aircraft missile of a Ukrainian S-300 Air Defence system,” the Ministry of Russian defence stated.

The Ministry added to its statement that strikes were carried out on a major target only on the Ukrainian territory and at a distance of no closer than thirty-five (35) kilometres from the Poland and Ukraine border.

Giving point of view, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba earlier rejected as a “conspiracy theory” the idea that it may have been a Ukrainian missile.

According to a copy of the speech seen by Agency France Press-AFP, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the missile incident was “a true statement brought by Russia for the G20 summit”.

On Tuesday, Poland called an emergency national security council meeting and summoned Russia’s ambassador over the occurred incident to provide quick answers and well-framed explanations.
