Following an eight-game losing streak in the league, Leeds United manager, Marsch has been the target of chants demanding his dismissal, and this matchup with Jurgen Klopp’s squad had appeared to be a pivotal one for the American.

However, Leeds earned their triumph by scoring through Rodrigo after a mistake by defender Joe Gomez inside the first four minutes of the game, despite entering it as 12-1 underdogs to win.

The defensive weaknesses that have dogged Leeds all season threatened to overcome them once more when Mohamed Salah equalized for Liverpool five minutes later.

However, Marsch’s team controlled every aspect of the game, and it became evident early in the second half that Liverpool was susceptible to suffering their fourth league loss of the year.

Despite this, Summerville’s victory was nonetheless unexpected because of how calmly he accepted his goal.

The 20-year-old exhibited fast feet after receiving the ball just beyond the six-yard box to propel his shot beyond Alisson in the Liverpool goal and quiet the home crowd.

Virgil van Dijk’s amazing undefeated record at Anfield in the Premier League may be used to gauge his influence at Liverpool since joining from Southampton in 2018 as the then-most expensive defender in the world.

Van Dijk had made 70 Premier League appearances for Liverpool at Anfield prior to Leeds’ visit, and had won every single one of them.

Leeds scored a big victory, but Liverpool suffered another setback this year with the loss. In 12 league games, Klopp’s club has only won four, and it currently occupies ninth position, 13 points behind league leader Manchester City.

Liverpool has lost twice in a row to the bottom two teams, adding insult to injury. This setback comes one week after the 1-0 loss at bottom-place Nottingham Forest.
