He claimed that its initial name, Voice of Kenya (VOK) was rebranded so as for it to meet national market standards again.

Owalo has further added that the government is keen to study the loopholes from KBC TV to re-engineer it to make sure it meets and satisfies viewers’ demands in the digital age, from its content to the quality of work it displays.

“It is ironical that KBC, with its wide network of infrastructure, is today punching below its weight in the marketplace,” Owalo stated.

“I promise without fear of contradiction that the issue of KBC will not be one of the thematic areas that require intervention, but I would also want to be held accountable by virtue of having a very clear performance indicator as far as turning KBC is concerned,” Owalo said.

Owalo also added that in the rebranding period, they will also employ top-tier talents and reward them with good salaries that will motivate them in creating profitable returns.

He maintained that KBC will regain its legacy and also compete in the global media space.
