Europa League Results: United Win As Rivals Arsenal Lose

Cristiano Ronaldo scores on his return to the squad as Manchester United win 3-0 at home against Sheriff Tiraspol. Premier League rivals Arsenal lose 2-0 to PSV, in the Europa League.

Premier League leaders Arsenal faced PSV, 2nd in the Dutch Eredivisie, on Thursday. Heading into the fixture Arsenal only needed a draw to ensure the top spot in Group A ahead of PSV.

Two quick goals in ten minutes, in the second half, saw PSV take control of the Europa League fixture. Joey Veerman and Luuk de Jong were on the scoresheet for the Dutch club.

Former Manchester United Striker and PSV Manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy has become a hot topic in the world of football after successfully handing Arsenal just their second defeat this season, ending their 9-game unbeaten run, with the other loss against whom? You guessed right, Manchester United, in the Premier League.

Arsenal will now have to win their final match against FC Zurich to seal the top spot in group A.

Red Devils on Fire

Manchester United ensured qualification for the knockout stages of the Europa League after a comfortable 3-0 home win against Moldovan side Sheriff Tiraspol.

A headed opener by Diogo Dalot in the first half, followed by goals from Marcus Rahsford and Cristiano Ronaldo in the second half bagged the points for the Red Devils.

The result sets up an exciting clash for the top spot in Group E next week on Thursday as United travel to Spain to face Real Sociedad.

United must win by more than one goal, or by a one-goal margin that is not 1-0, to advance directly to the knockout rounds.

Making his first full debut United forward Alejandro Garnacho made the perfect start with a confident and consistent display at Old Trafford. Good enough to earn him Manchester United Fans’ Player Of The Match without even scoring.

Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma beat HJK Helsinki 2-1 away while West Ham beat Silkeborg IF 1-0.
