US-based Kenyan comedienne Elsa Majimbo has pledged never to return home.
Elsa is still saddened by how people in her country criticized her when she first gained global recognition two years ago, while the rest of the world cheered her on.
She then revealed to Forbes Magazine that she will most likely visit her family, but she will not stay long due to the negativity that Kenyans have sent her.
“They were hell-bent on my failure. When the whole world was cheering me on Kenya was praying for my downfall so when I got the chance, I packed my bags and left. I’ll go to see my family but I left and I’m never going back,” she expressed.

Thinking that Kenyans would support her promising career, she adds that she was surprised when the majority of cyberbullies for her skin were from her home country, prompting her to pack her bags and leave for the United States, never to return.
“I have a very complicated relationship with Nairobi. When things started going on well for me there was a lot of backlash against me and there were a lot of colourist things said towards me and surprisingly it was people from Kenya who were doing that and they were bullying me on the internet,” she added.
She emphasizes that the hatred came from her dark skin and because she chose a different type of comedy than usual.
