Daniel Mbolu Musyoka the IEBC Returning Officer who went missing last week has been found dead. His body was on Monday, August 15 found at the Amboseli National Park in Kajiado South Sub-County.
According to Kipruto Ruto, the Oloitoktok sub-county police commander, they received reports of an unidentified, badly mutilated male body dumped in a river.
“The body of the deceased, vide my earlier OB no 20/15/08/2022 has been identified as of one Daniel Mbolu Musyoka by his sisters, namely Mary Mwikali and Ann Mboya at Loitokitok sub-county mortuary,” the police report says.
The 53 years old went missing on Thursday, August 11, in unclear circumstances. His two sisters Mary Mwikali and Ann Mboya positively identified him five days later on Tuesday, August 16.
They said their brother’s body had visible physical injuries and was naked when it was discovered on Monday evening.
Musyoka served as the Returning Officer of Embakasi East Constituency in the just-concluded August 9, General Election.
Investigations are ongoing to establish how he was abducted and eventually killed.
The preliminary investigations report indicates that the body was likely dumped in the area after he was killed elsewhere.
According to the IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati, Musyoka was attached at the East African School of Aviation tallying centre, where he went missing last Friday.
Reports indicate that the IEBC Returning Officer never returned to the office.
Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commissioner (IEBC) Roselyn Akombe last week sent a message of solidarity to the family of the Embakasi East Returning Officer, who was reported missing on Friday night.
Chebukati said the commission had reported the matter to the police to help trace him.
