Based on the ongoing transmission of the election results from the polling stations to the National Tallying Center through the Electronic Results Transmission.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has offered steps entailed in the Electronic Transmission Process.
The vote casting today involved both the use of electronic and manual systems in ensuring the efficiency of the process.
Form 34 As have been identified as key in the tallying by both the systems as results from polling stations are to be filled in Form 34A before transmission to Constituency Tallying Center by the Presiding Officer.
Hereby results from the Polling centers are to be tallied for verification before they can be filled into Form 34 B. which on completion is to be submitted to the National Tallying Center.
The electoral body will use the Result Transmission System (RTS), as electronic results from the polling station will be channeled to a back-end system for processing before it is displayed in the public portal.
“At the end of voting and when votes have been counted and tallied, the Presiding Officers (POs) enter the data on the signed results sheet into specially configured mobile phones and transmit the results simultaneous to the election results centers at the constituency, county, and national level,” IEBC said.
IEBC further said that the standard is procedural as the results from the polling stations will be received by the media and agents as the ‘Backroom’ keeps receiving results of the transmitted data en route to the Tallying Center.
In relation to the earlier signed agreement between the electoral commission and media agencies, it has enabled access to election results by the media as they air results in conjunction with the electoral body.
As results keep coming in, National Tallying Centre’s Presidential Returning Officer – IEBC Wafula Chebukati, is to tally the results to Form 34C before announcing the president-elect.
