Didmus Barasa, the member of parliament for Kimilili, is wanted by Bungoma County police for reportedly killing the aide to Brian Khaemba, his opponent.
Mr. Khaemba was running against Barasa for the Kimilili MP seat on a Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) ticket. It is stated that at around 6 o’clock in the evening, he went to the Chebukwabi polling station to see the ballots being counted.
However, he ran into the incumbent lawmaker at the voting location and opted to depart shortly after arriving.
According to a police record, Mr. Khaemba turned towards his car, but “Didmus Barasa followed him in the company of four men and told them not to let him (Mr. Brian Khaemba) go.”
Joshua Nasokho, the prospective MP’s driver, is alleged to have disobeyed Barasa’s command and started the car on fire.
According to the police report, Didmus Barasa pulled out a gun and shot Mr. Khaemba’s assistant Brian Olunga in the forehead, causing him to bleed profusely.
“He was taken by ambulance to Kimilili Sub-County Hospital, where he passed away while receiving care. Bungoma County Scenes of Crime personnel visited the spot, where it was processed and documented. “
The deceased’s body is still present at the aforementioned hospital and is awaiting transfer to the Delight Funeral Home.
