Nairobi Senatorial aspirant Bishop Margaret Wanjiru has said she can’t vote for some of her party members.

Bishop Wanjiru made it clear that voting for an aspirant should not be based on the party, but rather should be guided by the track record and integrity of the aspirants regardless of affiliation.

“Even in my party (UDA), there are people I cannot vote for. They all know my stand, if someone has a questionable character or has zero service delivery track record, I Margaret Wanjiru cannot be part of their team,” Wanjiru said in a media interview on Monday.

Wanjiru encouraged voters to elect leaders who can deliver, she disregarded aspirants who ran office but failed to deliver and are back to seek for votes from Kenyans.

The senatorial aspirant also noted that Kenyan Voters seem to have adopted the ‘six-piece’ voting system where only leaders from their party of choice get elected.

“When people go out and campaign together, the crowd starts looking at the whole team. There could be one or two that they don’t agree with, but for the sake of others we will do party politics,” she said.

Bishop Wanjiru also talked about the 2022 election having experienced a backfall in undecided voters, in which the majority used to be Christians.

“Most religious people would rather stay at home and pray. But this time it Is not the same, people are getting out of the prayer room to the polling station,” she said.

The senatorial candidate vying on a UDA ticket proclaimed that Leaders who were elected and never delivered up to 80% of their promises should not be allowed leadership positions again.
