Former KTN presenter Jamal Gaddafi has publicly expressed his displeasure with those he has labeled as “fake friends.”
Jamal described how lack of support from his friends led to him having to abandon his ambition to become the MP for Malindi in 2022.
“People asked me why I stepped down from the Malindi MP race, I had ambitions to run for office, I created public forums for friends to support me but the truth is the enemy of a young person is another young person. 99% of the friends I have did not support me,” he stated.
Jamal pointed out that just because you have a lot of friends doesn’t guarantee that they would be there for you in times of need.
He claimed that because he had learnt the hard way, it was preferable to listen carefully to the older generation than his peers.
“The number of friends surrounding you doesn’t mean they are going to support you, I will continue to listen to older people because I have witnessed for myself. When I needed my peers they were not there, with my peers let’s talk about other things and then that’s it,” Jamal remarked.
The former TV host went on to remark that assistance was not always financial but could also take the shape of inspiration and moral support.
Additionally, he said that he would be there for any young person who required his assistance.
“When I have an opportunity to support another young person I will and it does not have to be a person from within my area or one who is known to me, I will support anyone regardless,” he said.
On January 29, 2022, Jamal Gaddafi hosted his final Iwake TV program before quitting the media.
Gaddafi expressed gratitude to everyone who had supported him throughout his journey as a presenter in his final message, stating that he was now prepared to pursue another goal.
