Busted! Police Arrest Uniformed Imposter at Inooro TV Interview

Police yesterday apprehended a suspect identified as Monica Wamaitha Gitau, a civilian and political aspirant vying for the Nairobi Women MP seat, who was posing as a police officer during an interview on Inooro TV.

Monica was arrested after one of the hawkeyed officers based at Kilimani police station, received a tip-off on a suspicious uniformed female police officer being interviewed as a panelist on Inooro.

“Police officers based at Kilimani Police Station today received information of an ongoing interview at Inooro TV hosting an alleged uniformed female police officer as a panelist,

“Doubting the interviewee’s credibility, police officers rushed to the TV station from where they arrested Monica Wamaitha Gitau, a civilian and an aspirant for the Nairobi Women MP seat in full police uniform,” the NPS wrote in a statement seen on Twitter on Wednesday.

She was immediately arrested after the interview for the offense of impersonating a police officer in her quest for the Nairobi MP seat.

Monica is currently assisting the police with investigating how she acquired the police uniform as they gather more information about the incident.

NPS cautioned media houses on confirming the credentials officers through engaging the  Police Spokesperson or County commanders in the event they want to interview a police officer

“To avoid similar incidents in the future, National Police Service wishes to advise all Media Houses to always liaise for clearance with the Office of the Police Spokesperson or respective regional or county commanders over all requests for interviews with police officers,” NPS said.
