The basketball player from the America University of Cairo collapsed on the court and was immediately rushed to the nearby Ruaraka Uhai Neema hospital where he passed away, after several attempts to resuscitate him in vain.

“During the game, the young man jumped and fell on his back. It is believed he sustained injuries on his head. The paramedics who were around then swung into action and rushed him to Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital where doctors did their best but unfortunately, he died.” Kasarani Police boss Pete Mwanzo told Standard.

The police boss confirmed that they had already contacted the Egyptian embassy to begin the process of ferrying his body back to Egypt for his final rites.

As previously reported, Mt. Kenya University’s Boniface Kilonzo won gold in javelin at the All Africa University Games.

The reigning regional champion threw 62.99 meters, with Kisii University’s Justus

Kipkenda came in second with 52.36 meters. Nnamdi Azikiwe of Nigeria won the bronze medal with a time of 51.36 meters.

“It was an easy win for me. I didn’t feel any pressure in the contest,” said the 24-year-old Kilonzo at Moi Stadium in Kasarani.
