Waiguru picks James Kinyua as running mate

 The Kirinyaga’s gubernatorial seat now has a total of five aspirants.

Kirinyaga County governor Ann Mumbi Waiguru has appointed
Education County Executive James Kinyua Mutugi as her running mate following
her aspirations of clinching back the Kirinyaga County gubernatorial seat.

After the appointment, Waiguru referred to him as a diligent icon and a servant with a track record demonstrated by his hard work and capacity. 

Waiguru expressed sanguinity and belief that Kinyua will make a good change should they clinch the governance.

While addressing the press in Wamumu, Kirinyaga County, she believed that appointing Kinyua will help much in striking gender and promote leadership balance countywide.

“Since I got my current governor (Peter Ndambiri) from Mwea East in the 2017 general election. I have this time
found it suitable to get my August 2022 running mate from Mwea West,” she
said. 

Furthermore, Kinyua is not a newcomer in the political field as he previously served as Wamumu ward Member of the County Assembly between 2013-2017 before being appointed as an Education County Executive in 2017.

Kinyua, in his speech, expressed his appreciation for the golden opportunity received from Waiguru. He promised to extend his muscles in working with the residents of Kirinyaga. 

“I’m indeed humbled for picking me to serve as your running mate from among so many eligible candidates. Thank you for demonstrating your trust in me and I promise you that I will not let you down but will continue being humble and loyal to you,” he said.

Kinyua promised to work closely with Waiguru as he seeks to promote agriculture more so the rice farming by flustering for a better fee charged on rice irrigation.

He pledged to work with the national government should they emerge victorious in the general election to repatriate the economic growth of tomato farmers.

Kinyua added that farmers have undergone an immense frustration as a result of imported tomatoes hence flooding the Kenyan markets.

His appointment brings to five the number of running mates who have been unveiled by candidates thirsting for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial leadership.

The Kirinyaga’s gubernatorial seat now has a total of five aspirants who will be in the race come the August General Election.

Current deputy governor Peter Ndambiri is the running mate to Jubilee governorship candidate Charles Kibiru while Eliud Wanjao was picked two weeks ago by independent candidate Wangui Ngirici.

Other running mates who have been unveiled are renowned Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru who has been picked to deputize NARC-Kenya’s candidate Muriithi Kagai as Esther Njoki Kabiru will be Safina party’s governorship candidate Peter Gitau’s running mate.
