Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has travelled to Dar es Salaam to represent President William Ruto at a major continental forum on infrastructure, as African leaders seek new ways to finance and deliver critical development projects.
The two-day Infra for Africa Forum, taking place on August 5 and 6 at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre, has brought together government officials, policymakers, investors and development partners from across the continent. The discussions are expected to focus on infrastructure financing, regional connectivity and strategies to accelerate economic growth through improved transport, energy and digital networks.
Kindiki departed Kenya on Wednesday morning, according to the Office of the Deputy President, to lead the country’s delegation at the high-level meeting.
The forum comes at a time when African governments are looking to narrow the continent’s infrastructure financing gap while attracting greater private sector investment. Better transport links, energy systems and digital infrastructure have increasingly been viewed as essential for boosting trade and economic integration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Kenya has consistently positioned infrastructure development as a key pillar of its economic agenda. By participating in the forum, Nairobi is expected to deepen regional partnerships and explore opportunities for investment in projects that support long-term growth.
No public remarks from Deputy President Kindiki had been released at the time of publication.
The meeting is expected to conclude on Thursday after a series of discussions on financing models, public-private partnerships and regional cooperation.
