Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that individuals within State House secretly shared details of President William Ruto’s recent address on Kenya’s post-Vision 2030 development agenda before it was delivered, the latest allegation in an increasingly bitter political fallout between the two former allies.
Speaking during a public engagement, Gachagua said he had advance knowledge of the President’s speech because people working close to the Head of State had contacted him beforehand. He did not identify the alleged insiders or provide evidence to support the claim.
“They told me exactly what the President was going to say,” Gachagua claimed, adding that the information reached him before the address was made public.
The remarks came days after President Ruto unveiled a proposal for a new long-term national development framework intended to succeed Vision 2030. While receiving the report at State House, the President described it as the beginning of a national conversation on Kenya’s future and promised that the public would have an opportunity to shape the final blueprint.
Gachagua argued that the alleged leaks reflected growing unease within the government, suggesting that some officials were dissatisfied with the administration’s direction. However, he did not present independent evidence to substantiate those assertions.
State House had not publicly responded to Gachagua’s latest claims at the time of publication.
The exchange is the latest chapter in the deteriorating relationship between President Ruto and his former deputy. Since leaving office, Gachagua has repeatedly criticised the Kenya Kwanza administration, while the President has dismissed many of his former deputy’s accusations during public appearances.
The disagreement now extends beyond personal differences and has become part of the broader political contest ahead of the 2027 General Election. Both leaders have increasingly used public rallies and media appearances to challenge each other’s record and credibility.
For now, Gachagua’s claim that State House insiders leaked the contents of the President’s address remains unverified, and no official evidence has been presented to confirm the allegation.
