Kenya’s efforts to strengthen emergency medical services received a fresh boost after the Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Jagan Chapagain, visited the Kenya Red Cross headquarters in Nairobi.
The visit highlighted the growing partnership between the IFRC, the Kenya Red Cross Society and E-Plus Emergency Medical Services, with a shared focus on improving emergency response and saving lives across the country.
“The engagement reaffirmed our shared commitment with Kenya Red Cross Society and the IFRC to strengthen emergency preparedness, build institutional capacity, and support initiatives that improve health outcomes and humanitarian response,” E-Plus Emergency Medical Services said after the visit.
Showcasing progress in emergency response
During the visit, Chapagain toured the E-Plus Emergency Medical Services ambulance fleet and met emergency response teams responsible for providing rapid medical assistance during accidents, disasters and other emergencies.
The visit offered an opportunity to demonstrate the progress made in expanding emergency medical services, while highlighting the importance of well-equipped ambulances, trained responders and coordinated partnerships in delivering timely care.
Officials said continued collaboration between humanitarian organisations and emergency service providers remains essential as Kenya works to strengthen preparedness for public health emergencies and natural disasters.

The Kenya Red Cross and the IFRC have long worked together to support disaster response, community resilience and health programmes across the country. The latest engagement reinforced their commitment to building stronger emergency systems capable of responding quickly when lives are at risk.
E-Plus expressed appreciation for the continued support from its partners and leadership, saying the collaboration will help advance emergency medical services and improve humanitarian response nationwide.
