Nyali Member of Parliament (MP), Mohammed Ali, is hiding in the Nyali Police Station after being purportedly chased out of the Kongowea polling place by suspected thugs.
Mohammed was driven to safety inside the police station by top police officials after being rescued from the mob clamouring for his blood.
Daniel Masaba, the commander of Nyali Police, verified the occurrence and stated that the lawmaker was taken to safety.
However, he refrained from providing further specifics, stating that Mohammed had not yet given police his statement.
Sources said that Mohammed fell ill shortly after being rescued from the rambunctious youth.
“He cannot record a statement with the police since he is still unwell. Once he is able to record his statement, we will establish what transpired,” according to the senior cop who saved the lawmaker.
