U.S. President Donald J. Trump has triggered fresh global debate after issuing a strongly worded statement targeting countries affected by disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post shared on his official platform, Trump suggested that nations struggling to access jet fuel due to tensions in the region should consider alternative approaches, including sourcing fuel directly from the United States or forcefully securing access themselves.
Trump’s message was particularly pointed toward allies such as the United Kingdom, which he accused of failing to support U.S. actions against Iran.
“Buy from the U.S., we have plenty… and build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT.”
The remarks appear to advocate for a more aggressive, self-reliant approach by U.S. allies in securing energy resources.
Rising Tensions Around a Critical Global Oil Route
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most vital transit chokepoints, with a significant portion of global oil shipments passing through it daily.
Any disruption in the region, particularly involving Iran, has immediate consequences for fuel prices and supply chains worldwide.
Trump further claimed that Iran had been “essentially decimated,” suggesting that the most difficult phase of any potential confrontation had already passed.
