The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has dismissed reports alleging the involvement of the Adani Group in the ongoing modernisation and expansion of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
In a press statement issued on March 3, 2026, the Authority clarified that the previously discussed Privately Initiated Proposal with the Adani Group was formally cancelled and that there are currently no discussions with the conglomerate or any of its affiliates regarding the airport’s redevelopment.
Privately Initiated Proposal Officially Cancelled
According to KAA, the proposal that had earlier been linked to the Adani Group is no longer under consideration.
The Authority emphasized that any claims suggesting continued engagement with the company are inaccurate.
The clarification follows media reports alleging that the Indian-based conglomerate was involved in the planned works at JKIA.
Government-Funded Modernisation Programme
KAA reaffirmed that the JKIA modernisation and expansion programme is fully funded by the Government of Kenya and is being implemented in line with established public-sector policies and procedures.
The Authority noted that the project is part of a broader strategy to upgrade critical aviation infrastructure, improve passenger experience, and enhance Kenya’s position as a regional aviation hub.
The Authority assured stakeholders and the public that it will continue to provide timely updates regarding developments at JKIA.
