More than a decade after their historic first meeting dubbed “Fight of the Century”, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao have agreed to a blockbuster rematch set for September 19 in Las Vegas.
The highly anticipated fight will be staged at Sphere, and streamed live on Netflix.
A High-Profile Return for Both Legends
The rematch marks a dramatic return to competitive boxing for both fighters.
Pacquiao, now 47, ended a four-year retirement last year and is scheduled to face Ruslan Provodnikov on April 18 in what will be the second bout of his comeback campaign.
The Filipino icon has described the September clash as “unfinished business,” saying fans have waited long enough and insisting he wants Mayweather to remember the lone defeat on his professional record.
Mayweather, meanwhile, recently announced his intention to end a nine-year retirement from competitive boxing.
The undefeated American superstar will be 49 when the rematch takes place, having turned 49 shortly after confirming his return.
Mayweather’s Return to the Spotlight
Although he stepped away from official competition nearly a decade ago, Mayweather has remained active in high-profile events.
In 2017, he secured a lucrative crossover victory over UFC’s Conor McGregor, and he has since participated in several paid exhibition bouts.
He has also scheduled an exhibition with Mike Tyson, now 59, for the spring. However, that event currently lacks a confirmed location or date.
