Murkomen Orders Probe Against Natembeya’s Security Detail

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has issued a strong warning as the government launches investigations into members of Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya’s security detail.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has issued a strong warning as the government launches investigations into members of Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya’s security detail.

The officers are accused of abetting violence by allegedly facilitating and working alongside hired goons during recent political confrontations that the CS claims led to heir withdrawal from the Governors service.

Murkomen emphasized that police officers assigned to VIPs remain officers of the National Police Service (NPS) regardless of their attachment to political leaders.

Murkomen Dismisse Political Motivations

Murkomen dismissed arguments suggesting that the withdrawal of the officers was politically motivated, insisting that the action followed credible reports of misconduct.

“The fact that you have been attached to a certain VIP does not make you part and parcel of his campaign, part and parcel of his ideologies, part and parcel of his criminal plans,” he said.

Officers Accused of Facilitating Goons

The CS detailed allegations implicating several officers who were reportedly caught in the middle of violent incidents.

Murkomen noted that the withdrawal of the officers was only the first step, stressing that any involvement in criminal activities would be met with firm disciplinary measures.

“It’s not enough that they have been withdrawn. Disciplinary action will be taken against them, and if the charges are proven, they will lose their jobs… They may never go back to their jobs if it is found that they were facilitating violence in any part of our country.”

Murkomen said that officers found culpable will not only face internal disciplinary mechanisms but could also be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
