Radio host Alex Mwakideu has hired top constitutional lawyer Ochiel J. Dudley to defend him in a Sh20 million defamation case filed by motivational speaker and pastor Robert Burale.
The case began after Burale sued Mwakideu and his sister Rozina over a YouTube interview posted on October 4, 2025, in which Rozina called her marriage to Burale “the biggest mistake of my life.”
Burale says the video painted him as manipulative, hypocritical, dishonest, and immoral. He wants Sh20 million in damages, the video taken down, and a public apology.
To fight back, Mwakideu has brought in Ochiel J. Dudley, an award-winning lawyer known for major constitutional and human rights cases. Dudley was named Jurist of the Year in 2023 by the International Commission of Jurists – Kenya.
Legal experts say Dudley’s involvement could widen the case beyond personal issues, touching on the right to free speech and responsible digital publishing.
The court fight has sparked big reactions online. Some fans support Rozina’s decision to speak openly, while others say airing private issues online can harm reputations and lead to legal trouble.
For Burale, a win could clear his name and set a warning for how online interviews handle personal claims. For Mwakideu and Rozina, it’s a test of how far personal stories can go once shared with the public.
The case will be heard at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi later this month.
