The long-running tension between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj erupted once again on Monday night, as the two rap stars exchanged a flurry of insults online.
The latest clash began shortly after the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) confirmed that Cardi’s second album, Am I the Drama, had gone double platinum in just 10 days. What should have been a moment of celebration turned into a public spat when Cardi accused Minaj of throwing shade at her sales figures.
Cardi, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, fired off a series of barbed posts on X, formerly known as Twitter. She mocked Minaj’s career longevity, drawing attention to the age gap between them.

“You been in the game like 16 years… you need to compare yourself to YOUR peers that started around YOUR time,” she wrote. “Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Drake… those are the numbers you need to be competing wit and you can’t cuz you doing lower than all of them. I was in high school when you came out. Wtf is you comparing yourself to me for?”
In another post, she referred to Minaj as “cocaine Barbie” and made digs at the legal issues surrounding Minaj’s family, sparking an immediate backlash from Minaj’s supporters.
Minaj, born Onika Maraj, has so far avoided commenting directly on the age-related jibes. However, her history of quick and pointed clapbacks suggests the feud may not end here.
Both rappers have had public fallouts before. Their first major confrontation came in 2018, and despite brief moments of calm, tensions have resurfaced repeatedly over the years. Monday night’s exchange signals that their rivalry remains as fierce as ever.
Cardi will turn 33 next month, while Minaj will mark her 43rd birthday in December.
