Gianluigi Donnarumma is open to joining Manchester United as doubts grow over his long-term future at Paris Saint-Germain, sources close to the situation confirmed.
The 26-year-old Italian goalkeeper, widely regarded as one of the best in Europe, is said to be intrigued by the idea of playing at Old Trafford. Talks over a new contract with PSG have stalled, raising the prospect of a move in the near future.
United have already registered their interest formally and are monitoring the situation closely. According to those familiar with the matter, the club views Donnarumma as a prime candidate to take the No.1 shirt – either now or in a future transfer window.
“He’s shown he can handle pressure at Milan and PSG,” a source with knowledge of United’s transfer plans said. “That kind of experience is rare at his age.”

Donnarumma’s current deal in Paris runs until 2026, but discussions over an extension have made little progress. Without a breakthrough soon, PSG may be forced to consider his sale within the next year to avoid losing him for free.
At United, his arrival would likely depend on the departure of Andre Onana. The Cameroonian, who joined the club just last summer, hasn’t attracted any strong offers so far, making a clean transfer difficult. However, officials at the club are open to letting him go under the right circumstances.
Another possibility being quietly discussed is a loan deal – something that might allow United to bring in Donnarumma temporarily without a permanent commitment, especially if PSG’s stance changes.
For now, though, that option appears unlikely. No such talks have begun, but the club remains alert to any shift in Paris.
Behind the scenes, United are also considering other options. One name on their radar is Senne Lammens, the young Belgian goalkeeper currently at Antwerp. Internal discussions around his potential have been ongoing.
Still, any move – whether for Donnarumma or someone else – depends on freeing up space. Altay Bayındır is also expected to leave, but a deal has yet to be agreed.
Despite the uncertainty, United are watching Donnarumma’s situation carefully.
