The government has dismissed the notion that they left Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu hanging after her visit two weeks ago, to mediate between President Ruto and Raila Odinga.
At a Press Conference on Tuesday, July 25, Odinga, the opposition leader, mentioned that the Tanzanian President was in Kenya. He mentioned that the leader of a neighbouring country was willing to mediate between the two (Ruto and Raila), but the President of Kenya allegedly ignored her presence.
In the statement, he explained that President William Ruto invited President Suluhu to broker peace between the two, only to be ignored for the two weeks she was around.
State spokesman Hussein Mohammed failed to, however, offer a direct response to the questions posed by Raila Odinga in his speech.
” For every president that comes to meet the President of Kenya, there are protocols with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They will communicate, and they will handle all the protocols, and of course, we will know a visiting Head of State has come to meet the President of the Republic. Of course that is not to say that a president cannot come to a country for a holiday or whatever,” said the Spokesman
He went on to mention all the visits from presidents who have come to meet the Head of State have been documented. The spokesperson mentioned that all the presidents who have visited through established protocols have been seen and catered for by the president.

“Let me say this, there have been attempts… the Tanzanian president came here two weeks ago at the invitation of the president to mediate and he kept her waiting. Our side was available but the other side (Kenya Kwanza) was not available,” Raila stated at the press conference with the international media.
After the release of the address, President Ruto posted on Twitter, inviting Raila for a face-to-face conversation at any time of his (Raila’s) convenience.
