The Council of International African Fashion Education (CIAFE) has partnered with Google Arts, to create the first African digital fashion museum with the aim to tell the African fashion narrative without influence from the West.
Africa Fashion Exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum
Alára, a Nigerian-based concept store partnered with the Brooklyn Museum to curate a shop that opened last month for the Africa Fashion Exhibition. The unique mix of the two offers a look at African craftsmanship and talent.
Africa fashion celebrates the creativity and impact of African fashion from the start of independence until the present day. More than forty designers and artist from twenty African countries are represented, with many of them having their works on view for the first time.
Organised thematically, the exhibition features garments, textiles, books, art, photography, music and catwalk footage.

Anniversary of Arise Fashion Week
The 20th anniversary of the Arise fashion week had designs of the likes of Ajabeng, Awa Meite and Biance Saunders being modelled by Naomi Campbell and Alpha Dia.
This year marks a triple celebration for ARISE Fashion Week as the founder, Nduka Obaigbena commemorates the 10th anniversary of Arise News, 28th anniversary of ThisDay Newspapers and ofcourse the 20th edition of ARISE Fashion week.
The fashion event has had different names since its inception like ARISE magazine fashion week and ARISE Africa fashion week and ultimately ARISE fashion week.
It returned to Lagos in2018 after a six year break but had previously had editions in Abuja, New York, London, Capetown, Johannesburg, Washington and Dubai.
