Kenyan boxer, Daniel Wanyonyi, defeated Tanzanian boxer Karim Mandonga in a rematch that went down at the iconic Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi, on the night of July 22.
This victory marked a sweet reclamation for the Kenyan boxer after his knockout loss to Mandonga at the Kenyatta International Conference earlier in the year on January 14.
The intense 10 Round Light Heavyweight bout had spectators fascinated at the two boxers champions.
The intense and thrilling match showcased Wanyonyi’s unwavering determination and formidable skills, ultimately securing a well-deserved win. Fans and supporters who had witnessed his earlier defeat rejoiced in this moment of triumph.
Wanyonyi took charge of the match from the fourth round leaving Mandonga to the canvas in the sixth and 10th rounds.

However, nothing much happened in the ninth, as both boxers seemed to be saving their breath for the last round to determine the winner, despite it being clear that Wanyonyi was in the lead.

The three judges unanimously awarded Wanyonyi the victory, with Judge George Athmani giving Wanyonyi 100-80, Judge Wycliffe Marende 100-80, and lastly Judge Leonard Wanga 100-89.
This victory stands as a testament to Wanyonyi’s resilience and marks his successful comeback, solidifying his position as a dominant force in the boxing arena.
