The federal government in India has requested that all social media networks remove the video from their platforms due to its graphic nature. It is alleged that just one day after ethnic unrest erupted in Manipur, two women were paraded naked by a mob of 800-1,000 men and allegedly gang raped in Thoubal district which led to the recording of the graphic video.

Several politicians in India have condemned the actions portrayed in the horrifying video calling for the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators. Some of the suspects seen in the video have since been arrested and charged including 32-year-old suspect Heradas, identified in the video wearing a green shirt, according to local authorities.
