Azimio la Umoja released a statement on Friday calling for a three day protest starting from Wednesday to Friday. They further state that due to public demand, Azimio will hold protests on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
” Further to the communication issued yesterday on the Third Wave of peaceful protests scheduled to start on Wednesday next week, and following overwhelming requests from all sectors of the Kenyan Public for the need to intensify these demonstrations, the Coalition hereby wishes to announce a revision of the calendar. ” The statement said
“Going forward, the peaceful protests will now be held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next week, in line with requests from the public to include three days of activity. Let’s meet on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday,” read the statement.

The release of this statement comes after the government warned the opposition from holding any protests the coming week. They mention that despite people having the right to protest and picket, there is no allowance for property destruction and murder. This proceeds the destruction of property, death of citizens and hospitalization of children after Wednesday 12th protests.
Consequently, Ruto called out his predecessor Uhuru and opposition leader Raila. He accused them for allegedly organizing chaos in the nation under the guise of ‘peaceful anti-government protests.’ He accused Raila for sabotaging three governments before through his arm-twisting.

Alongside Ruto, the Interior CS condemned violence carried out during the protests. He said that he would ensure the people who took part in the demonstration, whether directly or indirectly, would be found through investigations carried out.
Following this conversation, the interior CS went ahead to threaten the arrest of Azimio leader Raila. The reason for this is to reduce the rate of destruction of property done through the protests carried out. In response to this, Mavoko East MP was arrested after being linked to the anti-government protests held in Mlolongo.

According to the Azimio press release, the third wave of anti-government protests would last three days due to public demand. At the same time, the government assures its citizens not to allow for protests to happen in the next week.
