Luka Modric the Croatia midfielder has signed a new one-year deal which will keep him at Real Madrid until the summer of 2024.

The Croatia midfielder, whose contract had been set to expire at the Bernabeu, had been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia’s Pro League.

Modric, 37, has made 488 appearances for Real, winning three La Liga titles and the Champions League five times since arriving from Tottenham in 2012.
He also won the Ballon d’Or in 2018 as Croatia reached the World Cup final.
Following an announcement of his new contract in the Spanish capital, Modric wrote “Home Sweet Home,” on Twitter.

He follows Toni Kroos, Dani Ceballos and Nacho Fernandez in extending their contracts with the club this summer and is still regarded as a key player for the 14-time European champions.
Real have already completed the high-profile addition of England international Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund this summer to add further competition for places in their midfield.
The 2022/23 UEFA Nations League final will be crucial in deciding Luka Modric’s international future with Croatia.
Modric is in line to pick up his 166th cap as Croatia faces Spain in the final in Rotterdam this weekend.

Despite turning 37 at the start of the 2022/23 season, Modric has remained as a central figure for Real Madrid and Croatia, as he captained his country to another World Cup semi-final in 2022.
However, the veteran midfielder faces a key call on his plans for the next 12 months, as he prepares to sign another one-year extension in Madrid.
However, the latest news surrounding the midfielder is that Luka Modric managed to keep it together after the setback of Croatia losing the UEFA Nations League final to Spain.
The Real Madrid midfielder was clearly disappointed as Spain ran out 5-4 winners on penalties with the two sides playing out a dull goalless draw after 120 minutes of football.
