Awkward and Embarrassing Moments Shared By Kenyans

As fellow country people, we have all been in one or two situations that other Kenyans would relate to as embarrassing. Some of these moments are worth a laugh while others are what we would term as character development that someone would not like to go through again. Comedians and content creators sometimes capture these moments whenever they create and share their content on different social media platforms.

Here are some embarrassing moments you’ve gone through, seen someone else go through or you would like to never go through as a Kenyan:

The supermarket till waiting

Well, this looks like, it is finally your turn at the till, you have had all your goods priced and packed and now you need to pay and you preferably want to use your phone. If your phone is faulty, it’s most likely to start acting up during that moment. Also, if you are waiting on someone to send money to the paybill. For instance, Kenyan parents have developed a habit of sending their kids to the supermarket and saying they will send money when they get to the till. This gets awkward as the line builds up waiting for you to pay.

The loud bodaboda

Occasionally, you find yourself having to use a motorbike to get to a certain destination faster and at an affordable rate. Nowadays, you can get a motorbike everywhere. You might innocently signal to a motorcyclist that you would want to use their services and as soon as you climb on the bike, he puts on his loud music. Mostly, the music is usually a mix of bongo, reggae or some heavy trap music. Creating and causing attention as you move through whatever neighbourhood you are in. Not to forget, the motorcycle is probably in a loud hot pink or neon green colour with stickers of Vybez Kartel.

Fuliza

Loans in Kenya are continuously increasing as more and more ways of getting access to loans increases and the economy get worse. Fuliza is an easy and quick way of getting loans that have been used by most Kenyans. The embarrassing bit comes when someone wants to send you money and you have to explain that you have a Fuliza so your number will not be the most appropriate for the money to be sent.

As Kenyans, we have moments that unite us that are unique to us, and one good instance is how we laugh at our embarrassing moments together to ease our stress.
