President William Ruto has appointed Douglas Kanja Kirocho as the new Deputy Inspector General of the National Police Service.
Douglas Kanja, who was the General Service Unit commandant was appointed by President Ruto upon recommendation by the National Police Service. He was sworn in on Thursday, April 13, by Chief Justice Martha Koome at the Supreme Court buildings. Douglas is set to take over from Edward Mbugua, who went on terminal leave during the month of March.

Similarly, President Ruto appointed Bruno Isohi Shioso, the former police spokesman as the Director General of the Kenya Coast Guard Service. He was appointed in line with section 17(1) of the Kenya Coast Guard Service Act.
Bruno had been serving at the Kiganjo Police Training Institute as a commandant until the time of his appointment into the new office. His position at the Kiganjo Police Training Institute shall be held by Gideon Munga Nyale, while the commandant position left vacant after Douglas’s appointment shall be filled by Eliud Kipkoech Lagat.

Ranson Loimodoni has been appointed as the Director of Operations in the same regard.
President Ruto has also acknowledged these changes made in the National Police Service in a press release statement issued on Wednesday, April 12, 2023.
