Korogocho MCA-Absalom Odhiambo, has been summoned by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) over his comments at Azimio’s rally at Kamukuji.
In a statement dated, Friday, January 27, by NCIC’s chairman Samuel Kobia, the MCA’s comments were considered incitement.
NCIC explained that the ally of the Azimio la Umoja flag bearer Raila Odinga would be called in to record a statement on the same and explain his sentiments.
The body also noted an increasing rise of political temperatures in the country, adding that the MCA’s comments would have been detrimental to the peace witnessed in recent months.
Further, the date and time, the MCA was required to appear before the Commission was not clearly made to the public.
Politicians were cautioned against negative remarks despite the differences that may exist.
“We wish to remind Kenyans that the President who is also Head of State is the symbol of national unity. Consequently, any actions that undermine the presidency will not only damage national cohesion but will also injure peace and unity among Kenyans,” NCIC stated.

NCIC’s statement came after Odhiambo’s clips were shared on social media platforms as some people called on the police to move with speed and apprehend the MCA.
The body also noted that the maturity in which differences in the 2022 presidential elections were handled, given that Azimio la Umoja one Kenya opted to file a petition in court.
