Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Leader, Raila Odinga, paid a courtesy call on the family of the late Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha on Wednesday.
Magoha’s death, according to Odinga, is a sad moment for Kenyans who have lost an academic giant.

“This a very sad moment for the nation, we have lost a great king, an academic giant and a leader who dedicated his life to serving the nation,” he said.
Magoha was described as a professional leader who instilled discipline in the education sector by him.
He went on to say that while he was minister of education, Magoha made sure there was no exam cheating.

Magoha died just as he was preparing to bury his recently deceased brother.
Magoha was Cabinet Secretary for Education in former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.
Magoha previously chaired the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) from 2016 to 2019, which he joined from the University of Nairobi, where he was Vice-Chancellor from 2005 to 2015.

Magoha was appointed a professor of surgery at Maseno University School of Medicine after leaving the government.
