Trevor Noah says Goodbye to The Daily Show

For the last seven years, Trevor Noah has been the host of the political comedy show The Daily Show, and an excellent one at that. He bid the show farewell and shared his final thoughts with loyal fans, as he shifts his focus back to his stand-up career.

During his last appearance on the show, an emotional Trevor Noah thanked his fans for the tremendous support they have shown and given him while hosting the show.

Trevor thanked the guest who had appeared on his show over the years, particularly Roxane Gay and Tarana Burke for challenging him and educating him about the world and their stories.

While paying tribute to the Black women who shaped his life, Trevor, struggling to hold back tears, broke down.

After having dedicated his time and effort to build from his predecessor John Stewart left the show, Trevor was bidding farewell to a show that had now intertwined with his personality. with such authentic humour and sound political discourse.

He also jokingly thanked the haters who watched the show calling it hate-watching for they contributed to the viewer’s ratings.

“I’m grateful to you, every single one of you,”. I’m so grateful. I remember when we started the show, we couldn’t get enough people to fill an audience. Even the people who hate watching us still got the ratings, thank you.” Trevor Noah said.

Trevor Noah though was most grateful to the black women in society. He mentioned that people say how great and creative he is and he gave credit to his mother and aunties who raised him into what he is today.

“This is random, for some, but a special shout-out to Black women. I’ve often been credited with having these grand ideas. People are like, ‘Trevor, you’re so smart.’ I’m like, ‘Who do you think teaches me? Who do you think has shaped me, nourished me, and formed me?” He said.

He also acknowledges the black women in America. Trevor Noah said that they are always in the know when something is going on in America, especially its history. Hence they mostly become successful and prominent in America.

“When things go bad, Black people know that it gets worse for them,” he continued. “Black women, in particular, they know what s–t is, genuinely. People will always be shocked like, ‘Why do Black women turn out the way they do in America?’ Because they know what happens if things do not go the way they should.” Trevor Noah said.

He ended by recognizing the opportunity to host the daily show was a privilege and honour and thanked everyone for their unwavering support through the years.

Trevor Noah took over from Jon Stewart and started his journey from 2016 to 2022. Netizens are really anticipating to know who will take over and feel Trevor Noah’s shoes
