Lewandowski scores first World Cup Goal as Poland Win Against Saudi Arabia

World Cup

Saudi Arabia rue missed chances in their second World Cup fixture as Poland win. Hervé Renard’s team lose after a sensational 2-1 win against Argentina on Matchday one

Eight minutes to fulltime, Poland striker and captain, Robert Lewandowski scored his first-ever World Cup goal at 34 years. The FC Barcelona striker also had an assist in their 2-0 win against Saudi Arabia, a cool cutback to a teammate, Piotr Zielinski. 🤜🤛

The final score, however, doesn’t reflect the proceedings. Saudi Arabia dominated most of the fixture, coming close to equalizing. Heroic goalkeeping by Wojciech Szczesny throughout the 90 minutes ensured that Poland held off Saudi Arabia and capitalized on major errors at the back. In added time at the end of the first half Salem Al-Dawsari had the chance to equalize from the penalty spot but Szczesny pulled off a double penalty save. 🧤
