“A long, long time ago, before, when I was young, there were lots of trees, we call the volume of trees. There were lots of it all over the beaches. Now it is all gone. Not even one tree is standing, it is all gone you can see that the sea is rising and taking everything away’’, James Azemia said.

In another part of the City seas, only managed wetland is filling the brand of the harsh Climate. It is dry. Despite the fact of rainy season Climate.

Dr. Shah, a Conservationist says that the country is affected in many ways. Including increasing sea surface temperatures and intensifying frequency of tropical storms such as cyclones.

“You can imagine here we are in a low-lying area where the airport is low-lying. The commercial port is low lying our fuel storage is right there. Our Emergency services are also low-lying. You get a storm surge, you get heavy rains, and you get high tide at an abnormally high tide, everything is flooded so we do not have to wait for the sea level to rise’’, said Dr. Shah in a statement.

On the other hand, the organization that Dr. Shah heads runs one of the islands in the country known globally for being a carbon-free cuisine island.

A sea and island reserve is carbon neutral. Each year, carbon credits are bought through investment in projects in poor and developing countries.

This includes clean cook stoves and projects that discourage deforestation and promote sustainable energy.

But Dr. Shah says that this is not a lasting solution. We can sell carbon credits, but that does not actually help us in adapting.

“These extreme events are happening every year. So every year the event is more extreme than the previous year. It is hotter, it is wetter, it is dryer, it is stronger. So that is the problem. The ultimate thing to do is to help us to remove some of our two retreats, as we see the option in dealing with climate change”, Dr. Shah added.
