Nairobi: On Friday, November 11, 2022, at the State House of Kenya, President William Ruto said that Kazi Mtaani Program will be converted to a tree-planting initiative.
Spoking on Friday during the exchange of views with the Business Community and Development Partners on the Drought situation in Kenya, Ruto outlined significant measures for the stated roadmap.
In a statement at the State House, Ruto clarified that the move will help address the adverse effects of the climate change that Kenya is currently facing.
“We must collaborate to initiate long-term resilience activities to cushion the people against drought and food insecurity at large,” he stated.
“Giving an upper hand, we must also come up with and consolidate our solution to the situation. We are still requesting more funds targeting our immediate response,” Ruto added to his statement.

Notably, the President announced that the situation was still dire especially in twenty (20) counties due to crop failure as a result of on rains. Thus, giving low outputs in the agricultural sector.
President William Ruto on the other hand told the meeting that the Government of Kenya will continue offering strong support to farmers in order to produce more food through modern methodologies in the Agricultural sector.
