Deputy President Gachagua has assured Kenyans that the price of unga will reduce in a few months time, as the prices of basic commodities are stabilizing.
Deputy President Gachagua while speaking in Nairobi on Sunday, October 30, noted that Unga and Petroleum are the most targeted commodities that their prices are expected to be dropped in prices.
Gachagua asked Kenyans to be patient as the prices of basic commodities start to stabilize.
Unga Prices
Speaking in Nairobi on Sunday, October 30, the DP said the prices of unga and liquified petroleum products will reduce in the next few months.
“The price of unga and cooking gas has started going down. Give us a few more months, and things will be better,” said Gachagua.
The maize flour now is sold at ksh 200 per kg in supermarkets and retail shops.
The price is due to shortage of maize grains in the market therefore leading to an increase in cost of production.

A 90 kg bag of maize has been retailing at ksh 6000 since July, 2022.
A spot check by Switch media now indicated that the price of cooking gas across the market has reduced by ksh 1000 per refill of a 6kg gas cylinder.

This is a result of the reduction in global market prices and the stabilization of the supply chain.
