The President yesterday launched a new housing plan project(Soweto B) for affordable houses in the country at Lang’ata Constituency.
There is a 2 Million housing deficit that Ruto’s administration is rushing to reduce right on time.
The project is set to help low income earners living in slums that will be able to pay the affordable rent fees for the houses.
Citizens will be required to pay Ksh 2,400 for a period of 20 years after which they gain full ownership of the houses.
Kenyans living in slums will be the biggest beneficiaries of this housing scheme.
The Head of State noted that he is planning to build 250,000 housing units annually.

Speaking during the launch of the affordable housing project in Soweto B on Tuesday, October 25, Ruto said the scheme aims to uplift Kenyans’ dignity.
“We are making it a deliberate programme to build 50% of affordable houses. All our housing must be in the category of social and low-cost housing so that we can pay attention to the majority of Kenyans who live in slum areas.”
“It is important that we focus on this area so that we can give the people of our country dignity.” said Ruto.
Ruto revealed that the Soweto B project he launched yesterday will be about 4,054 housing units.
Rent Plan for the Housing Schemes.
Tenants for one bedroom houses will be paying 2,400 per month and will assume the ownership of the house after 20 years.
For the two bedroom and three bedroom it will cost the tenants ksh 4,600 and Ksh 6500 respectively per month, this therefore will attract a 3% interest.
