About 200 golfers are expected at Mombasa Golf Club this weekend, with places in the NCBA Golf Series Grand Finale at stake.

Among those entering the competition are William Kaguta and Mary Kandu, who won the overall men’s and women’s gross titles during last year’s edition. Both will be looking to repeat that success when the Mombasa tournament gets under way.

The players will compete across several categories, including the overall men’s and ladies’ gross events, Division Two for men and women, and Division Three, which includes an overall and junior category.

Winners in the respective divisions will earn places at the season-ending Grand Finale, scheduled for November at Karen Country Club.

The Mombasa event follows the NCBA Series stop at Nyahururu Golf Club on August 8. Cyrus Lwenyi won the overall title there with a gross score of 78.

Simon Ngugi took the Division One men’s title with 81 gross, while Susan Hiuko won the corresponding women’s category. Jobsam Njoroge emerged as the junior winner and secured a place in the Grand Finale.

NCBA will also turn its attention to junior golf this weekend with the opening tournament of the 2026 NCBA U.S. Kids Golf Nairobi Fall Local Tour at Thika Greens Golf Resort on Sunday.

The event will feature boys and girls aged between five and 18, competing in age-based divisions. The tour is intended to give young golfers regular competitive experience as they develop their skills.

After Thika Greens, the tour will move to Ruiru, Limuru, Muthaiga, Migaa, Thika Sports and Royal Nairobi before the Tour Championship at VetLab Sports Club.

The program is being run in partnership with U.S. Kids Golf and the Junior Golf Foundation Kenya, with support from NCBA. Participants will also earn Priority Status points that can help them qualify for international U.S. Kids Golf events.

NCBA’s weekend golf program will include several other tournaments. The Patron’s Cup is scheduled for Muthaiga Golf Club from August 21 to 23, while the Strathmore Alumni Golf Tournament will be held at Migaa Golf Club. Limuru Golf Club will host its Chairman’s Prize on Saturday.

The Mombasa Kambasome Golf Tournament will also take place at Mombasa Golf Club on Saturday.

John Gachora, NCBA Group managing director, said the bank wanted to support golfers across different stages of their careers.

“Golf continues to provide an important platform for us to support talent, create opportunities and bring communities together,” Gachora said.

He said the weekend’s programme reflected the bank’s broader involvement in the sport, from the main NCBA Golf Series to junior and club-level competitions.

For Kaguta and Kandu, however, the focus will be on the course and another chance to secure their place among the country’s leading golfers heading into the November finale.
