British Airways has issued a warning to travelers about potential scams as it temporarily reduces flights to parts of the Middle East due to ongoing regional uncertainty and airspace instability.
In an update released on March 10, the airline confirmed it has cancelled all flights to and from several major destinations across the region.
The suspensions affect services to Amman, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai and Tel Aviv until later this month.
Flights to and from Abu Dhabi have been suspended for a longer period, with cancellations expected to continue until later this year.
The airline said the decision was taken due to the evolving security situation in the region and the instability of certain airspace routes.
British Airways noted that the situation remains under constant review and that the airline is actively communicating with affected customers to offer a range of travel options.
Limited Repatriation Flights from Oman
Despite the widespread cancellations, British Airways has arranged limited repatriation flights for customers seeking to return to the United Kingdom.
The airline confirmed that a small number of seats remain available on special flights from Muscat to London Heathrow Airport scheduled for March 11 and March 12.
These flights are only available for customers who already had existing bookings with the airline.
Passengers who believe they can safely travel to Muscat in line with guidance from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) have been advised to contact British Airways directly to arrange a seat.
The airline added that it is also contacting passengers who may still be in the United Arab Emirates to provide assistance and alternative travel arrangements where possible. Customers who have already made their own travel plans have been asked to notify the airline.
Warning Over Potential Travel Scams
Amid the disruption, British Airways has urged customers to remain vigilant against fraudsters who may try to exploit the situation.
The airline cautioned passengers to only rely on official British Airways communication channels for updates regarding flights, bookings, or refunds.
Travelers have been cautined against clicking on suspicious links or share personal and payment information with unverified sources.
British Airways emphasized that accurate updates about the situation are available through its official travel news portal and customer support channels.
As the situation in the Middle East continues to evolve, the airline said it will keep monitoring developments and adjust its operations accordingly.
