United States and Israel Launch Major Strikes on Iran as Nuclear Tensions Explode

Iran

The United States and Israel have launched coordinated military strikes against Iran, dramatically escalating tensions over Tehran’s nuclear program and regional influence.

According to reports, the first apparent strike hit near the offices of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, in downtown Tehran.

Iranian state media confirmed explosions across the capital and other cities, with smoke seen rising from multiple locations.

In a video posted on social media, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. had begun “major combat operations in Iran,” citing continued concerns over Iran’s nuclear development and missile capabilities.

Trump claimed Iran has continued advancing its nuclear ambitions and warned that Tehran intends to develop missiles capable of reaching the United States.

He also appealed directly to the Iranian people, urging them to “take over your government.”

Netanyahu: Operation Aimed at Removing “Existential Threat”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the joint operation as necessary to eliminate what he called an “existential threat” posed by Iran.

“Our joint operation will create the conditions for the brave Iranian people to take their fate into their own hands,” Netanyahu said in a statement.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz added that the strikes were conducted “to remove threats,” though he did not provide further operational details.

Targets reportedly included Iranian military facilities, intelligence sites, and symbolic government infrastructure.

Iran Retaliates with Drone and Missile Strikes

Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard responded swiftly, launching what it described as a “first wave” of drones and missiles targeting Israel.

Explosions were reported in northern Israel as air defense systems intercepted incoming projectiles. Sirens also sounded in Jordan.

Israeli hospitals activated emergency protocols, relocating patients and surgeries to underground facilities as a precaution.

There were no immediate confirmed reports of casualties or significant damage in Israel.
