Police Probe Deadly Fall After Fight Inside 14th-Floor Apartment
Police in Nairobi are investigating a deadly incident in Kilimani after a man fell from the 14th floor of an apartment on Kindaruma Road during a fight with his girlfriend.
The man’s body was found on the rooftop of a parked salon car moments after the fall, with both his legs visibly broken. Guards and neighbours rushed to the parking lot after hearing a loud thud and immediately alerted police.
According to investigators, the man and his 48-year-old girlfriend had checked into the apartment on November 28 for a weekend stay. On Saturday night, they were joined by another male friend, and the three spent the night drinking until early Sunday morning.
The woman told police the friend later left the apartment. Soon after, an argument broke out between the couple, and the man allegedly assaulted her. A physical fight followed as she asked him to leave the room. Police say the woman is suspected to have pushed him over the balcony during this confrontation.
He fell onto a car below and died instantly. Police said the woman went to sleep afterward, unaware of what had happened until officers and neighbours woke her.
Inside the apartment, police recovered assorted drugs and used alcohol bottles. The woman was arrested and is expected in court as police seek more time to hold her while investigations continue. Detectives are also searching for the male friend who left before the fall.
Police say similar incidents have become common during apartment parties. Last weekend, a female university student died after falling from the 12th floor of a building during a party. Seven students were arrested, and the case is still in court.
