A new Netflix documentary, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, takes a fresh look at the rise and downfall of Sean “Diddy” Combs, one of the most influential names in hip-hop. The four-part series, produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and directed by Alexandria Stapleton, follows Combs’ journey from a major force in music to a convicted offender facing dozens of civil cases.

The documentary revisits the killings of Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G., two murders that defined the East Coast–West Coast rivalry in the 1990s. Biggie was a key part of Combs’ label, and the series brings in new information about the events surrounding both deaths.

Former Danity Kane singer Aubrey O’Day is among those featured, saying she recently learned she may have been assaulted years ago while working with Combs. She reads from an affidavit written by another woman who claimed to have seen the alleged incident. O’Day also speaks about explicit messages she says Combs sent her and claims she was removed from the group after refusing him.

The series also shows private video recorded just days before Combs’ September 2024 arrest. His team says this footage was meant for his own documentary and was never approved for release. They accuse Netflix of using stolen material, and Combs’ lawyers sent a cease-and-desist letter demanding the platform stop the release. Netflix says it obtained all footage legally.

Jurors from Combs’ federal trial also appear in the series, sharing their thoughts on the case. Combs was acquitted of the major charges of racketeering and sex trafficking but convicted on two counts related to transportation for prostitution. He is serving a 50-month sentence in a federal prison while he appeals the verdict. He is also facing dozens of civil lawsuits from people claiming abuse, which he denies.

Netflix says the documentary is independent and not driven by personal rivalries, even though Jackson has publicly clashed with Combs for many years.
