12 People Die After Small Plane Crashes in Kwale

PLANE CRASH 2

At least 12 people were killed after a light aircraft crashed on Tuesday morning in the Tsimba Golini area of Kwale County.

Police said the caravan plane had taken off from Diani Airport and was headed to Kichwa Tembo in the Maasai Mara when it went down shortly after departure. The victims are believed to be tourists, though their nationalities were not immediately confirmed.

Emergency responders, including police and local residents, rushed to the scene to help, but there were no survivors.

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) confirmed the crash, identifying the aircraft as registration number 5Y-CCA.

“The aircraft had 12 persons on board. Government agencies are already on site to establish the cause of the accident and its impact,” said KCAA Director General Emile Arao.

The cause of the crash remains unknown, and investigators from the Air Accident Investigation Department have been deployed to the scene.

The airline operates charter services between Mombasa, Diani, and other tourist destinations across Kenya.
