American rapper Snoop Dogg has officially joined the ownership group of Swansea City after acquiring a minority stake in the EFL Championship club. The 53-year-old music icon, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, was unveiled as a new investor just days after appearing as the face of the team’s 2025–26 home kit launch.

Swansea confirmed the announcement in a statement on Wednesday, naming the global entertainer as part of a growing effort to expand the club’s international reach. The move comes three months after former Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modrić also bought into the club.

Snoop Dogg expressed pride in his new role, saying he felt a connection with Swansea’s identity. “My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City,” Snoop Dogg said in a statement released on the club’s official site. “This is a proud, working-class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me. I’m proud to be part of Swansea City.”

The rapper joins a group led by American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen, who took control of the club in a November 2024 acquisition. Club sources say Snoop Dogg was brought into the ownership structure through a mutual connection with Cravatt and Cohen.

In a joint statement, the owners welcomed his involvement. “To borrow a phrase from Snoop’s back catalogue, this announcement is the next episode for Swansea City,” they said. “Snoop’s global fanbase will help elevate our profile and create fresh opportunities to grow the club’s reach.”

The club also confirmed that Snoop Dogg has committed to promoting Swansea City internationally and contributing to future strategic initiatives. “He has made clear how excited he is to join the club,” the owners added. “We expect his support to help us build the most competitive squad possible.”

As part of the announcement, Swansea revealed a mural of the rapper inside the Swansea.com Stadium’s West Stand. The tribute marks his entry into the club’s history and highlights his involvement beyond a branding role.

Despite being based in the United States, Cravatt and Cohen have remained active in club affairs. They joined the team during its pre-season training camp in Spain earlier this week, with photos shared by the club showing them alongside players and staff.

Snoop Dogg’s engagement with football is not new. He has previously shown interest in the sport and spoken publicly about his admiration for the game. Now, with an ownership stake in one of Wales’ most historic clubs, that interest has become an investment.

Swansea City will begin their 2025–26 season with renewed momentum backed not only by football experience in the boardroom but now, also, by a powerful global brand.
