Nairobi —Sheila Kwamboka, better known to fans as Kwambox, has addressed long-standing speculation about her sexuality with a message that was both clear and candid.
In a revealing conversation on the Iko Nini Podcast, the former radio host and Big Brother Africa alum confirmed she identifies as sexually fluid. And for her, it’s nothing new.
“It’s one of the most publicised things when I was in Big Brother,” she said during the interview aired Monday. “I was very clear I am fluid. It has never been a secret.”
‘The OGs Already Know’
Kwambox suggested that much of the renewed interest in her sexuality comes from newer fans, especially Gen Z followers who may not have followed her earlier career.
“I think this is a Gen Z thing,” she said. “It’s Gen Zs who do not know me. I am in my third stage of fans. The OGs know the answer to this.”
She added that many people now seem to weaponise her identity against her something she no longer takes personally.
“People try to use it against me, but if I am being honest, that is none of my business.”
Her Relationships: ‘A Nice Balance’
Reflecting on her romantic life, Kwambox shared that her most recent relationships have all been with men four, to be exact which she described as a form of personal balance.
“My past four relationships have been with guys,” she said. “It has been a nice balance.”
‘I Don’t Live for Anyone’
The conversation didn’t stop at labels. Kwambox made it clear that she’s never sought external validation and lives life on her own terms.
“I am who I am. I don’t live for anyone,” she said. “I am very true to who I am. What I like is what I like.”

What It Means to Be Sexually Fluid
Sexual fluidity refers to the capacity for a person’s sexual attraction to shift over time. Unlike fixed orientations such as heterosexual or homosexual, sexual fluidity allows for attraction to people of different genders at different stages in life. This doesn’t mean confusion or indecision it simply acknowledges that human sexuality can be flexible. For some, it’s about emotional connection rather than gender; for others, it reflects an evolving understanding of self. People who identify as sexually fluid often prefer not to be boxed into one label, instead embracing the freedom to love who they’re drawn to, without restrictions.
While public attitudes towards sexuality in Kenya remain complex, Kwambox’s decision to speak out again may encourage a broader and more nuanced conversation about identity, expression, and acceptance in the country’s media and entertainment spaces.
